Wednesday, November 16 - 7:30 pm – Regular: $30 Student:$10 Jake’s Gift is a multi-award winning play about a Canadian WW2 veteran’s reluctant return to Juno Beach for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day, written by and starring Julia Mackey. While revisiting the shores of Juno beach, Jake encounters Isabelle, a precocious 10-year-old from the local village. Isabelle’s inquisitive nature and charm challenge the old soldier to confront some long-ignored ghosts – most notably the war-time death of his eldest brother, Chester, a once promising young musician. At its heart, Jake’s Gift is about the legacy of remembrance and makes personal the story behind one soldier’s grave. (65 Minutes-No Intermission) “Jake’s Gift….rich, true and deeply moving, a solo show that runs just 65 minutes but leaves you replete, wanting neither more nor less of the gift you’ve been handed.” OTTAWA CITIZEN | Patrick Langston Presented by Meaford Hall
